Red Panda Expedition
Finding Red Panda or Firefox in the wild is a lifetime experience. The red Panda is one of the cutest mammals found in the Tinchule-Singalila forest located on the India-Nepal border. Red Panda is an ‘endangered’ species as per the IUCN Red List. However, there are 30+ Red Panda living in this forest area. Tinchule-Singalila is the best future habitat for this cute Red Panda.
The road is stiffed, narrow – one side is the deep ditch and another side is a mountain covered by flowers. It’s a terribly beautiful feel. Tracking Red Panda through this road will give an experience never before. If you love nature and adventure, this is the ideal expedition for you.
It’s Not Just An Expedition

Red Panda Expedition is an ‘Experience’. You have to control your mind and maintain your health to be a part of this high-altitude wildlife photography expedition. You will be witnessing so many new things in your life. This is the place that introduced me to nature and some amazing moments. Wildlife photography at high altitudes is a challenge, and when you overcome it, that’s an achievement. Are you ready to take this challenge? Here I am sharing the details of my coming Red Panda Expedition at India – Nepal Border.
ITINERARY
DAY ONE
11:00 AM: Start journey from NJP Rail Station / Bagdogra Airport.
01:30 PM: Lunch On The Way.
5:00 PM: We will reach our location at Tumling. After some rest,
we will start capturing the Sunset and majestic Speeling Budhha(Kanchanjangha Mountain).
9:00 PM: Dinner Time. After dinner, we will do Astrophotography from Tonglu.
Tonglu is a place where you hardly see any artificial light, it’s completely dark.
You can see the beautiful sky and Milkyway if lucky.
DAY TWO & THREE
5:00 AM: Wake up and ready for the Sunrise. You will be amazed.
6:30 AM Ready with your gears to visit Tinchule forest. We will do birding on the way,
as well as at our destination while searching for Red Panda.
01:00-1:30 PM: Lunch Time and get ready for the next jungle trek.
2:00-5:30 PM: We and our trackers team will continuously search for Red Panda until Sunset.
After Sunset, we will back to Tumling.
7:00 PM: Image review, Post Processing, and discussion about that day.
Also, prepare for the next day.
9:30 PM: Dinner Time
DAY TWO & THREE
4:30 AM: Wake up and ready for sunrise at Sandakphu.
8:30 AM Ready with your gears to visit Tinchule forest.
We will do birding on the way, as well as at our destination while searching for Red Panda.
01:00-1:30 PM: Lunch Time and get ready for the next jungle trek.
2:00-5:30 PM: We and our trackers team will continuously search for Red Panda
until Sunset. After Sunset, we will back to Tumling.
7:00 PM: Image review, Post Processing, and discussion about that day. Also, prepare for the next day.
9:30 PM: Dinner Time. Pack your bags, because this will be our last day for the Red Panda expedition.
We will return back with a bag full of happiness and some
beautiful moments of Red Panda, Himalayan birds, and Martens.
DAY FIVE
5:30 AM: Wake up and will be leaving for NJP / Bagdogra after some birding.
